National League Showdowns

Dansby Swanson and Christopher Morel each collected two hits. On the mound, Shota Imanaga earned the win for Chicago, fanning 7 batters over 6 innings, surrendering 3 earned runs. The Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. launched a solo homer and scored two runs, with Jackson Merrill adding two hits. The New York Mets dominated the Washington Nationals with an 8-0 shutout victory. American League Battles

In a tightly contested game, the New York Yankees squeaked past the Texas Rangers 3-2. Yankees pitching was stellar, with starter Luis Gil dominating through 5.2 scoreless innings, scattering 3 hits and striking out 8. The Yankees’ offense featured solo home runs from Anthony Volpe and Aaron Judge, with Judge scoring two of the team’s three runs. For the Rangers, Jon Gray delivered a strong performance on the mound, giving up only one earned run over 5.1 innings, but relief pitchers Jose Leclerc and Kirby Yates each surrendered a solo homer. Josh Smith and Travis Jankowski each had two hits for Texas, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
The Kansas City Royals outlasted the Oakland Athletics in a 10-inning thriller, winning 4-1. The Royals broke the deadlock in extra innings with a three-run tenth, highlighted by Maikel Garcia‘s go-ahead three-run home run. Salvador Perez also contributed with a solo homer earlier in the game. Royals starter Seth Lugo had a strong outing, allowing only one earned run on four hits over 6 innings.
