The Texas Rangers and the Oakland A’s meet Tuesday in MLB action from the Oakland Coliseum. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Oakland Athletics vs Texas Rangers Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Texas Rangers will send out Jose Urena for the start here and Urena is 0-2 with a 4.35 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. The Oakland A’s will trot out Ross Stripling to start this game and he is 1-5 with a 4.24 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. In his career, Stripling is 0-1 with a 6.19 ERA and 12 strikeouts against the Rangers.

Texas Rangers Recap

The Texas Rangers come into this game looking to build on their 4-2 win over the A’s from Monday’s series opener. The Rangers trailed for most of the game but Corey Seager’s 3-run 8th inning home run broke the game open as the Rangers took the lead and never looked back despite being outhit 7-5 in the win. It’s put Texas on the right path for another series win after knocking off the Royals, Nationals and Reds in the last three series.

Rangers Trying To Pick Up Steam At The Plate

Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 38 hits along with 8 doubles, 5 home runs and 22 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has a team-high 8 home runs and 27 RBIs with 7 doubles as well as 4 stolen bases. Evan Carter also has 5 home runs with 14 RBIs while Jonah Heim has 4 homers and 20 RBIs and Josh Smith has a team-high 10 doubles.

Why the Texas Rangers will win

  • Probable Starting Pitcher: TBD
  • The Athletics have lost eight of their last nine home games against American League opponents.
  • The Rangers have won five of their last six games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
  • The Athletics have failed to cover the run line each of their last four home games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Rangers have covered the run line in five of their last six games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum against teams that held a losing record.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s on the other hand will try to bounce back on the quick turnaround after a heartbreaking end to Monday’s opener, with Oakland’s bullpen wasting a strong start from Alex Wood. It was not the way the A’s wanted to bounce back after a disappointing end to their series with the Marlins, failing to complete the sweep after sweeping the Pirates the series before.

A’s Regressing At The Dish

Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 8 home runs and 20 RBIs this season while Abraham Toro has a team-high 31 hits and 13 RBIs while JJ Bleday has a team-high 9 doubles, 29 hits and 13 RBIs and Toro has a .284 batting average. Zack Gelof has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 33 K’s at the dish this season but also has a team-high 4 stolen bases. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 7 home runs and 16 RBIs.

Why the Oakland Athletics will win

  • Probable Starting Pitcher: Ross Stripling Record this season: 1-5 ERA: 4.24
  • The Rangers have lost each of their last five day games against AL West opponents.
  • The Athletics have won six of their last seven day games following a loss.
  • The Athletics have covered the run line in seven of their last eight day games against American League opponents following a loss.
  • The Rangers have failed to cover the run line each of their last four day games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Rangers have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last five games against AL West opponents.

Oakland Athletics vs Texas Rangers Prediction

I’m leaning towards the A’s here. I don’t love this matchup from an early perspective, but there’s no way I can in good faith back Jose Urena for much of anything. He’s been batting practice for opposing teams wherever he’s gone, and I don’t anticipate anything different here. The A’s have been able to provide value in spots, and I think this is another one here. Give me the A’s.
