Dallas Cowboys’ veteran offensive lineman Zack Martin has announced his retirement from the NFL at the age of 34, as reported by NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. Martin, a first-round pick (16th overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft, dedicated 11 seasons to the Cowboys, earning seven first-team All-Pro honors as a right guard.

Notably, during the 2014 draft, there was speculation that the Cowboys might select quarterback Johnny Manziel with their first-round pick. However, the team chose Martin, a decision that proved highly beneficial, as he is anticipated to be a future Hall of Famer.

Throughout his career, Martin demonstrated remarkable durability, participating in 162 games over 11 seasons. In the most recent season, he was limited to 10 games due to an ankle injury. This injury, coupled with reports of Martin contemplating retirement, culminated in his decision to step away from professional football.

With Martin’s departure, the Cowboys face the challenge of filling the void at the right guard position, potentially considering TJ Bass as his successor.
