The Pickswise team is off to hot start for touchdown props, as we have hit six of 11 bets, with all six being plus money. Here are my best Bills vs Dolphins touchdown scorer bets for TNF, while you can also find out our NFL picks on the side and total.
Bills vs Dolphins anytime touchdown scorer pick: James Cook (+170)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Quarterback Josh Allen commands so much attention from opposing defenses that the natural eye overlooks James Cook. Cook, in his third year as a pro (second as a starter), is coming off a season in which he averaged 4.6 yards per carry — ranking him in the top 15 in the league. But he only found the endzone 6 times and twice on the ground. On the other hand, Allen rushed in 15 touchdowns last year and already has two under his belt through the first week. Let’s hope Miami is locked in on Allen keeping the ball, resulting in Cook walking into the endzone.
After losing Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason, the load on Cook’s shoulder got much heavier. He needs to be a catalyst for this offense so they can succeed in what is presumed to be a tight AFC East race. He has all the tools to be a bellcow back for Buffalo, even with the addition of Ray Davis in this year’s draft. Fresh off 19 carries, I still expect Cook to get utilized a ton on a short week — especially in the red zone.
Bills vs Dolphins anytime touchdown scorer pick: Jeff Wilson Jr. (+125)
Line available at Bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing.
If you’re looking on FanDuel to wager on Jeff Wilson Jr. to score, close your app now. FanDuel has the backup running back priced at -165 – a precaution if De’Von Achane sits. Luckily, Bet365 has Wilson priced at +125 — a price I would still play if Achane is active. DraftKings is still hanging Wilson to score at plus money. Even if Achane is active, I would presume he will be limited in some capacity. He already has a laundry list of injuries under his belt for his short career, isn’t built for 15+ carries and is now on a short week.
Wilson looked phenomenal in the limited work he saw in Week 1. He carried the ball 5 times for 26 yards, including breaking off a 14-yarder. Achane was the only back for the Dolphins to get a red-zone touch in Week 1. I expect Wilson to take over that role with Raheem Mostert already ruled out.
