FanDuel Best NBA DFS Picks: Timberwolves vs. Clippers

SPORTS CHAT PLACE

After suffering a 120-109 loss to the Lakers on Sunday, the Timberwolves will travel to the Crypto.com Arena for a matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Before we dive into my best DFS picks for tonight’s NBA game, let’s review the rules for FanDuel single game contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be the star, pro, and flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The pro player will accumulate 1.2x the standard fantasy points value.

The final two flex positions will receive the standard points value. Having stated that, it is important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

Here are my FanDuel Player Selections for this evening’s Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Clippers matchup.

FanDuel Player Picks

MVP-Kawhi Leonard $14,500

The 2019 NBA MVP has posted outstanding offensive numbers for the Los Angeles Clippers recently. In his last five games played, Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard has averaged 24.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 1.8 steals a game.

Let’s take a look at the Clippers most recent game with the Minnesota Timberwolves from earlier this season to see how Leonard fared from a statistical standpoint. In the Clippers 89-88 win over Minnesota last week, Leonard accumulated an impressive 32 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 2 steals.

It should be noted that Leonard is listed as questionable on the Clippers official injury report. However, I am not concerned.

I fully expect Kawhi Leonard to return to the Los Angeles starting lineup on Tuesday night after missing Sunday’s game for rest.

Star-Anthony Edwards $15,000

Earlier this month, talented Timberwolves center Karl Anthony-Towns suffered a knee injury that required surgery. Unfortunately for Minnesota, the injury will cause Anthony-Towns to miss the rest of the regular season. There is no question that losing the talented big man to injury is a not an ideal situation for this Minnesota offense.

Since losing Karl Anthony-Towns to injury, Minnesota has played three games. When I reviewed the relevant offensive player data for that three-game span, one Timberwolves player’s name popped off the page. That player’s name is Minnesota guard Anthony Edwards.

In the Timberwolves last three games played (without Anthony-Towns), Edwards has averaged 50.3 FanDuel points a game.

Additionally, Edwards will be facing a Los Angeles Clippers defense that has had issues containing opposing point guards recently. In the Clippers last 15 games played, Los Angeles is ranked a lowly 28th in total FanDuel points allowed (51.29) to the point guard position.

Pro-Norman Powell $9,500

Two weeks ago, Los Angeles Clippers point guard Russell Westbrook suffered a wrist injury. That injury will cause Westbrook to miss tonight’s game with Minnesota. Westbrook’s absence has provided Clippers guard Norman Powell an opportunity for increased playing time.

Powell has certainly posted some quality numbers without Russell Westbrook in the lineup. In the Clippers last game, Powell accumulated 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.

In summary, I like Powell’s chances of posting good offensive numbers in tonight’s contest with Minnesota.

Additional flex plays I like: Rudy Gobert $13,500: Paul George $13,000: Jaden McDaniels $9,500.
