New York to Edge Out Tough Game
The Detroit Red Wings travel to New York in this NHL matchup. Currently sitting with a record of 2-3, the home team New York has gone 2-3 as well. It must be noted that Detroit has lost 0 games in overtime, compared to New York’s two.
The Islanders have a notoriously strong home record. Last season went a very respectable 21-10-10 at home. We believe their strength at home should pull them through in this game.

The Edmonton Oilers’ biggest issue in the last seasons has been keeping goals out of the net, while scoring them has been easy.
Although last season it looked like they half-fixed their leaky defense, it seems that the tap is truly turned on to start this season, having allowed an average of 4 goals per game.
This season, the Oilers have allowed at least 4 goals in all of their 6 opening games. And despite the Carolina Hurricanes not being the best team offensively, they have still managed to score 3 goals per game.
The Pick
To put it lightly, if the Carolina Hurricanes can’t score at least 3 goals against this Oilers’ defense, we don’t think they will be best pleased. The Oilers are seen as such a soft touch right now that we are more than happy to lay the -135 juice with Carolina to find the back of the net at least 3 times.
The over 3.5 is also a bet that we would consider, and it’s currently at +130 NHL betting odds.
