Minnesota Wild vs. St. Louis Blues

Tuesday, October 15, 2024 – 07:30 PM ET at Enterprise Center

How Wild Can It Get?

Our opening NHL pick for tonight’s card is a matchup between two pretty even teams as the Minnesota Wild face the Blues in St Louis.

The Central Division rivals have both started the season picking up four points in their first two games and finished 5th (St Louis) and 6th(Minnesota) respectively in the division last season. They also finished beside each other in the division table in 2022 and 2021.

Both these teams know each other inside out and recent affairs haven’t provided many goals. Overall this matchup has produced an average of 6.4 goals across the previous 10 games, which is a lot. However, if we subtract the two outliers, they will only average 5.2 goals per game.

The Pick

Although the NHL season has started with a bang and lots of high-scoring games, we are looking to target this matchup to go under the total, but we are giving ourselves a lifeline by taking the under 6.0 line for a potential push instead of the under 5.5 line at plus money.

The Blues have seen an average of 6.1 goals in their opening three games, whilst the Wild have had an average of just 5.2 goals per game.

We can’t see where the bulk of the scoring will come in this game and therefore agree with our computer’s 3-2 predicted scoreline.

The Pick: Under 6.0 (-120) at Bet365

San Jose Sharks vs. Dallas Stars

Tuesday, October 15, 2024 – 08:00 PM ET at American Airlines Center

Total Mismatch

It’s been a disastrous few seasons for the San Jose Sharks and, as we predicted, it looks like it’s going to be another rocky one having started the season 0-2. They now face the Dallas Stars, who got so close to a Stanley Cup (yet again) last season and have started the season very dominantly going 3-0.

This is a total mismatch and we cannot believe the low juice available on the Dallas Stars to cover the PK line. The Stars have kept back-to-back clean sheets thus far this season.

The Pick

Although history hasn’t been kind to us (with the Stars only covering the spread on home ice in 4 of their previous 6 games against San Jose), we have to base the facts on how good these teams are now. Every hockey fan will know the Stars will need a very bad day at the office if they don’t manage to cover the spread in this one, losing is almost unfathomable.

Give us Dallas to breeze to a 4th victory on home ice, whilst hopefully covering the spread to cash the PK line.

NHL Pick: Dallas Stars -1.5 PK Line (-120) at Bet365

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Calgary Flames

Tuesday, October 15, 2024 – 09:00 PM ET at Scotiabank Saddledome

Bedard to Bring the Heat

You can’t talk about Chicago games these days and not mention Connor Bedard. In his debut season, he was without a doubt the best Blackhawks player on the roster and ended the season as their top points, goals, assists and shot taker.

We predicted Bedard would start the season with a bang, taking his total shots to go over 2.5 at -130. He duly delivered having ended the game with five shots. Thankfully since then, we have stayed off Bedard and it has proven lucky, as he only managed one shot in each of his last two games.

Tonight we are betting Bedard to up his game and bring the heat to the Flames.

The Pick

Understandable, Connor Bedard had only one shot against the Winnipeg Jets, but only one last time out (albeit a victory) against the Edmonton Oilers would have stung a little.

Tonight we believe Bedard brings the shooting gloves. His over 2.5 line at -125 is nice but we are prepared to take the over shots line 3.5 gamble at a nice +130 NHL Betting odds.

NHL Pick: Connor Bedard Over 3.5 Shots (+130) at Bet365
