Marcus Stroman Should Improve
Over the last month, Marcus Stroman has allowed a .239 ISO and wOBA of .437. But he’s also induced more than 45% of ground balls and has allowed just 21% of fly balls. In addition, Stroman has given up just 6.5% of walks.
If he continues to increase these numbers, his ISO and wOBA will drop significantly. It also helps that he’ll face a Tigers lineup with five batters holding an ISO of no better than .115 against righties.
Just Force Skubal To Throw
The best way for the Yankees to win tonight is by forcing Tarik Skubal out of the game.
Skubal is a lefty pitcher who has held his last 136 batters to a .113 ISO and wOBA of .275. But unlike Stroman, Skubal has allowed nearly 28% of fly balls and induced just 38.4% of ground balls.
If the Yankees can connect, they’ll have a better chance of forcing in a run or two.
