Draftkings Best WNBA Showdown Picks: Storm vs. Sparks 7/16/24

SPORTS CHAT PLACE

The WNBA presents a matchup between the Seattle Storm vs. Los Angeles Sparks. Let’s take a look at this game from a Draftkings perspective.

Before we dive into the Seattle Storm vs. Los Angeles Sparks game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for tomorrow afternoon’s Seattle Storm vs. Los Angeles Sparks matchup.

Draftkings WNBA Showdown Picks

Captain-Ezi Magbegor, Forward, Seattle Storm $9,400

How important has Seattle forward Ezi Magbegor been to the Seattle Storm offense this season? Let’s take a look at Magbegor’s recent game statistics to answer that question.

In the 23 games that forward Ezi Magbegor has played for the Seattle Storm in the 2024 WNBA regular season, Magbegor has averaged a whopping 13.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 1.7 steals a game.

More recently, in the Seattle Storm’s 81-70 win over the Atlanta Dream two days ago, Seattle forward Ezi Magbegor played rather well. Let me be more specific. In the Seattle Storm’s defeat of the Los Angeles Sparks just noted, Magbegor accumulated 18 points, five rebounds, one assist, three blocks, and one steal in the Storm’s defeat of the Los Angeles Sparks.

Additionally, I like Ezi Magbegor’s matchup in this game. Why? Seattle Storm forward Ezi Magbegor draws a Los Angeles Sparks defense that has struggled on the defensive side of the basketball at times this season. Through 22 games played in the 2024 WNBA regular season, the Los Angeles Sparks are currently ranked an abysmal ninth in total points opponent fast break points allowed a game (10.8), ninth in total opponent points allowed in the paint a game (36.3), and tenth in total team defensive rating (105.4). Clearly, the data just presented tells that the Los Angeles Sparks are not a good defensive basketball team. After all, numbers don’t lie.

In my opinion, Seattle Storm forward Ezi Magbegor is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in tomorrow afternoon’s WNBA regular season contest. For that specific reason, I am rolling with Seattle forward Ezi Magbegor as my captain for this one game DFS WNBA Showdown slate.

Dearica Hamby, Forward, Los Angeles Sparks $11,000

In my opinion, Los Angeles forward Dearica Hamby has been the most valuable player on the Los Angeles Sparks roster this season. Having stated that, how has Hamby been playing from a statistical perspective in 2024?

In the 23 games that forward Dearica Hamby has played for the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2024 WNBA regular season, Hamby has averaged 19.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals a game.

Additional players I like to play well this evening (Draftkings price noted): Nneka Ogwumike, Forward (Seattle Storm) $10,000: Jewell Lloyd, Guard (Seattle Storm) $8,800: Sami Whitcomb, Guard (Seattle Storm) $4,600: Azura Stevens, Forward (Los Angeles Sparks) $8,000.
