The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Thursday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Philadelphia Phillies vs LA Dodgers Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Los Angeles Dodgers will send out Landon Knack for the start here and Knack is 1-2 with a 2.86 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. This will be Knack’s first career start against the Phillies. The Phillies will send out Aaron Nola for the start here and Nola is 10-4 with a 3.48 ERA and 107 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Dodgers, Nola is 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA and 36 strikeouts.
Los Angeles Dodgers Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to salvage something from this series to avoid the sweep after a 4-3 loss in Wednesday’s matchup. The loss still gave the Dodgers an L in the series overall, making them unable to build momentum after their series win over the Brewers this past weekend.
Dodgers Looking To Head Into Break On High Note
Shohei Ohtani has 112 hits including a team-high 28 home runs, 22 doubles and 66 RBIs with a .317 batting average while Mookie Betts has 86 hits with 16 doubles, 3 triples, 10 homers and 40 RBIs of his own, but continues to miss time because of an injury. Teoscar Hernandez also has 19 home runs with 60 RBIs and a team-high 108 strikeouts. Betts also has 9 stolen bases while Ohtani has a team-high 22 stolen bases. Freddie Freeman also has 58 RBIs with 25 doubles and Will Smith has added 18 doubles, 15 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Why the Los Angeles Dodgers will win

- The Phillies have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven games as favorites against the Dodgers following a win.
- The Dodgers have covered the run line in nine of their last 10 games against NL East opponents.
Philadelphia Phillies Recap
The Philadelphia Phillies will try to complete the sweep of the Dodgers after their triumph in Wednesday’s matchup. The win gave Philadelphia the series win to bounce back from their series loss against the rival Atlanta Braves this past weekend.
Phillies Leading Charge In NL East
Alec Bohm leads the Phillies with 102 hits including 31 doubles, a .292 batting average and a team-high 70 RBIs while Bryce Harper has 20 home runs with 58 RBIs and Bryson Stott has a team-high 21 stolen bases. Kyle Schwarber has a team-high 18 home runs, 52 RBIs and a team-high 104 strikeouts as well this season. Johan Rojas also has 17 stolen bases as well this season.

- The Dodgers have lost each of their last five night games against the Phillies following a loss.
- The Dodgers have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five games as road underdogs against National League opponents.
- The Phillies have covered the run line in eight of their last nine Thursday night games against teams that held a winning record.
Philadelphia Phillies vs LA Dodgers Prediction
I’m on the over here. I think the Phillies keep the offensive momentum going against Landon Knack, who hasn’t really been anything special this season and is being forced into his role because of necessity with all of the injuries in the Dodgers’ rotation. On the other side, Nola has had issues keeping runs off of the board in spots and the Dodgers got to Nola for 10 earned runs in two starts last season. All in all, I think the over cashes here.
